# Our Story
The Hôtel Héliot occupies a Toulouse building whose origins date back to the 1880s-1890s. Its name comes from the street on which it is located: Rue Héliot, itself named in homage to Abbé Benoît Héliot.
Since 2004, the hotel has been run by Frédéric, who took over the establishment that year and has since been dedicated to preserving its soul and character.
That same year, 2004, a cat came to live within the hotel walls: Héliot, echoing the name of the place. He became the discreet mascot of the hotel until his death in 2020; his photo still hangs in the reception area today, as a memento. Since then, Drakkard has been looking after the hotel and welcoming guests in its own unique way. The hotel's history is also reflected in its walls. The corridors are adorned with six paintings created in 2014 by a local artist, who remains anonymous, and who chose Toulouse as his subject—a way of creating a dialogue between the city's identity and that of the hotel. These works are complemented by canvases signed by Dehaspe and Dubreuil, which further enrich this pictorial journey through the different floors. Completing this ensemble are antique pieces of furniture that belonged to Frédéric's ancestors, which he was determined to preserve and incorporate into the hotel's decor—all silent witnesses to a family history intertwined with that of the place itself.
